Dyson Trading – SCDF Fire Safety Certificate (FSC)

Congratulations to our fellow business owners on your successful completion of renovating your desired location! You’re now one step away from occupying the premises. We say “one step” because you still need to obtain a
Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) to ensure the safety of not only you and your staff, but also that of the other
building occupants.

As you click into the Fire Certificate document on the SCDF website, you will probably notice that it’s quite lengthy and tedious. Now picture this: You have a dedicated assistant to seamlessly navigate you through the entire application process, leaving you with the sole responsibility of providing the necessary documents. Sounds appealing, doesn’t it?

Dyson Trading is here to be your trusted partner through this journey, offering our expert guidance in permit applications, such as the Fire Safety Certificate (FSC).

Unfortunately, according to the fire safety act, the responsibility for applying and obtaining a Fire Safety Certificate falls on the owner or occupier of any public building, including but not limited to, offices, hospitals, shopping complexes, industrial buildings and private residential buildings. If  your company comes under any of those categories of public buildings, you need a Fire Safety Certificate (FSC).

When should I apply for a Fire Safety Certificate (FSC)?

You might be wondering, “Can I apply for the FSC right away?” Actually, before applying for the FSC, you must ensure that you have fulfilled these 2 prerequisites:

  • First: approved plans for the fire safety works; and
  • Second, All works to your site are completed in accordance with SCDF’s requirements.
What are the required documents that need to be submitted when applying for a Fire Safety Certificate (FSC)?

In addition to fulfilling the above mentioned 2 prerequisites, all required documents (as stipulated by the SCDF website) must also be submitted.

To ensure a smooth FSC application process, please do make sure that you have the following required documents:

  1. FSC Application Form
  2. Certification for Fire Safety Works
  3. Certification for Lift Installation and Operation
  4. Certification for Fire Engine Access Road and Accessway
  5. RI Inspection Certificates
  6. RI Inspection Report
  7. Letter of Appointment for RI
  8. Declaration of Regulated Fire Safety Products

Having these documents will help expedite your FSC application.

You might also notice that documents such as RI Inspection Certificates, RI Inspection Report and Letter of Appointment for RI are underlined. These 3 documents will need a separate submission through the CORENET portal. Navigating through multiple submissions of a handful of documents might appear complex, but don’t worry – we are here to guide and walk you through every step of the way, ensuring a smooth and effortless experience.

Unlocking efficiency

During your application processing period, SCDF authorities conduct preliminary inspections within 10 days of receiving your application. Your premises might be selected for inspection to identify any red flags. If the SCDF notices any fire hazards this will lead to additional document filing and resubmission of the entire application. Navigating through this part of the permit process alone can be quite anxiety-inducing but we help to simplify the permit process for you making it seem as though you have streamlined your journey towards obtaining the FSC.

It’s important to note that the FSC will only be issued upon full completion of all fire safety works at your site. We understand that time is of the essence in business. Allow us to assist you in smoothing out the ins and outs of this process, freeing you up to focus on the most important part of this all, your business!
